    About the position:

    In this position, you work at various Ryder locations supporting our different dedicated account. This position will require flexibility as shift & schedules will vary and ability & availability to Travel is required.



    • Class A/ Solo Driver positions / Full-Time
    • Base Pay:

                  For HazMat AND Tankers: $22.00 x hour plus OT after 8 hrs.

                  Pay with Hazmat Endorsement only: $21.00 per hour plus OT

                  Pay with Tankers only:$21.00 per hour plus OT

                  Without HazMat or Tankers Endorsement: $20.00 x hour + OT

    • Type of Equipment: Various (depending on location being supported)
    • Touch Freight:  Depending on location being supported
    • Desired Skills/ Abilities/Qualifications: On-time Delivery / Reliability & Punctuality/ Customer Service & Communication Skills 
    • Work Schedules:Flexibility is required to work the various shifts/schedules being covered.

    Additional Pay Details/Information:

    • MILEAGE Reimbursement:  Mileage will be paid when traveling to any location outside of the Inland Empire or Orange County.
    • Mileage is paid when driver reaches over 50 miles one way and will be paid at the rate per IRS guidelines (for  2018 it’s 54.5 cpm) for personal vehicle use.
    • Mileage reimbursement is for mileage in personal vehicle only and it is calculated with the starting point of the Fontana Hub to the destination site.

    Dispatch and Routes:

    • Work Week: Depends on account - usually Mon-Fri (occasional (Rare) weekend day, but only 1 day lapsing over weekend)
    • Dispatch Schedule:  Depends on account - 75% of accounts are day shift (avg shifts are 9-10 hours per day)
    • Routes - Depends on account - 80% of accounts are in SoCal and will be able to be home daily; on occasion, will cover regional routes (with layovers) & assignments at one of our Out- of-state accounts - Requires flexibility!


    The position also requires travel as needed to remote domiciles and/or out of State.  In such events, Ryder will pay up to $25.00 food Per Diem, Hotel, and Car rental.

    If a Driver is sent to cover our Pacific North West locations and works an entire work week consisting of 5 days; the driver will receive an ADDITIONAL $125.00 for that week on top their $25.00 Per Diem.

    • Minimum 22 years of age
    • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
    • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
    • Pass a DOT physical
    • Pass a Ryder road test
    • Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
    • Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle:
      • 12 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
      • 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR
      • 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
    • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
    • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures

    Important Note:  Additional requirements may be required in different locations and/or accounts.


    This position is primarily responsible for safely driving a commercial vehicle and requires compliance with safety & DOT Regulations, continuous training and customer service.


    Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
    • Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards Maintaining accurate records and logs
    • Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
    • Other tasks as assigned
